What are today’s UK mortgage rates?

If you’re planning to purchase a home, you may be asking what the current mortgage rates look like in the UK.

Lenders regularly adjust their mortgage products, which means rates often change. For that reason, we publish weekly updates on the average mortgage rates and show how they’ve shifted compared with the previous week. You can also see how they vary across different loan-to-value (LTV) brackets.

How are mortgage and interest rates behaving now?

There’s been significant attention on Base Rate changes and the effect they have on mortgage costs. The Bank of England (BoE) meets roughly every six weeks to decide whether to raise, reduce, or keep the Base Rate unchanged.

On 7 August 2025, the Base Rate was reduced to 4%. Inflation in the year to July climbed to 3.8%, up from 3.6% in the previous month.
